Mother’s Day Dining

keep-calm-and-love-mom-195This Sunday is Mother’s Day!  If your plans include taking Mom out to eat — and you don’t have reservations yet — here are some ideas:

If you want to celebrate with Mom before Sunday, Blu is featuring a four-course, $55 prix fixe dinner menu starting tomorrow (Thursday) through Saturday.  Sunday brunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Diners will receive one free mimosa per entrée, and live jazz music will entertain guests.

Churrasco’s will offer brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Mom will also receive a $25 Churrasco’s gift certificate for use at a future meal.

Ray’s Grill will offer a brunch buffet on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  The cost is $35 for adults and $15 for children.

Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill will also feature a brunch buffet, served from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The cost is an economical $10.95 per person, and children under 12 are only $5.95!

Turquoise Grill in Sugar Land Town Square offers a three-course Mother’s Day menu, with prices varying depending upon the entrée.  Main course selections are mixed grill, salmon, and Moroccan chicken.  Moms will receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

Los Tios Mexican Restaurant will offer a special off-the-menu treat for Mom — Pechuga Rellena, a chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheese.  Yum!

Fish City Grill in Sugar Land Town Square has a special menu for Mother’s Day that features choices such as lobster, surf and turf, and swordfish.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, most especially my own!

Fort Bend Food News Special — May 3, 2013

Ok, trying to get back into the swing of things here.  I normally do news on Sundays, but there are a few things coming up this weekend that I wanted to let you know about.

First, Pollo Campero in Katy is hosting Family Fiesta Weekend on May 4-5.  From 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. both days, adults and children can enjoy family friendly entertainment such as face painting, a bounce house, balloons and more.  There will be special food offers, and each guest will receive a free dessert.  Even better, kids eat for free!  There is no admission charge and the event is open to the public.  Pollo Campero’s Katy location is at 557 South Mason Road.

Also, Cinco de Mayo is this weekend.  All that really means is that folks are looking for an excuse (like we need one!) to eat Tex-Mex and drink margaritas.  Blu is hosting its Cinco de Drinko event on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.  There will be mariachis, crawfish, Latin street food, and Pura Vida frozen margaritas are $5.

Have a great weekend and stay tuned next week for Mother’s Day dining ideas and more about the Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair.

Happy Birthday, Fort Bend Food Blog!

It’s hard to believe that my humble blog is 1 year old!

Thanks to all of you who read the blog, and especially for being patient when I’m not able to post as often as I’d like.  Perhaps most importantly, thank you for sharing the blog with your friends!

I think I shall have some cake.
